Day 13: When It’s Not About the Nail

I think I bit off more than I can chew. I’m doing this Slice of Life Challenge while taking another course at work while teaching another course at work. I’m a bit overwhelmed since this is all happening outside of my actual job.

I started crying as I vented to my husband. Of course he doesn’t want to see me sad, so he said, “Why don’t you drop the Mindset Course or the Slice of Life Challenge?”

I looked at him like he was crazy. “Drop one of them?? I can’t drop one of them! I’m in it, now. I’m already in,” I said, appalled at the suggestion.

He looked at me. I looked at him.

Our conversation reminded me of this video, and I chuckled

It’s not about the nail.

  1. ….All of my sweaters are snagged. L.O.L. Too darned funny!!!! Don’t you just hate it when people try to help you fix your problems??? Come on Jerome!!! That video – that video.,

  2. I didn’t get the video on my email, but I enjoyed the post nonetheless. It’s the classic dilemma of the overachiever. We want to do it all, but it does take a toll. You’ll learn to pace yourself as time goes on.

  3. Over the years I have learned that when my wife cries for no apparent reason (my view of things) it is best if I just say nothing but hod her until it passes. She is then OK and sorts things out for herself. Thanks for the smile.

  4. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ The video is so spot on. That conversation has happened many times with my hubs and I. This past few weeks has definitely felt overwhelming. Just a few more days until spring break!

  5. OMG, that video is amazing!! I tell my husband all the time that I don’t need him to fix me, just listen, lol!!! I wish I could just pull the nail out though!

You are so dedicated. I hope you can find a way to fit it all in without too much stress. Or let yourself off the hook. I know that’s hard because I’m the same way. But sometimes it’s necessary.

  6. This video is perfect! I’m so much the same way–balancing two kids, classes, teaching after school PD, this challenge…I wouldn’t change one bit, but it certainly makes life a little crazy sometimes! πŸ˜€

  7. I know exactly what that video is about … I remember it from years ago. I love it. And you are right, it’s not about the nail. Hang in there and do what you can!
